MTSF Course - Bournemouth
An MTSF course has been organised to be held in Bournemouth from:
Wednesday 23 - Thursday 24 January 2013
This course is non-residential, so any overnight accommodation that is required, needs to be arranged via the branch, who would also need to cover the costs.
Harassment Complaints Database: Union Policy
Branches are reminded of the CWU's stance on dealing with bullying and harassment cases. A bullying and harassment complaints database is held in the Equal Opportunities Department.
Branches are encouraged to utilise the HCD1 form to record allegations of bullying and harassment made by CWU members. Information concerning the HCD1 form can be found on the CWU website under the Equal Opportunities section.
We appreciate that this will add to an already busy work schedule but it is essential that, as a union, we instil confidence in our members that our zero tolerance policy on bullying and harassment is followed up with action and not just words.
The data that comes through to headquarters will be vital in enabling us to analyse and identify any problem patterns which may exist and we can flag these accordingly.
We extend our appreciation to all those branches who consistently comply with this request and look forward to the co-operation of all branches in this matter.
Any queries in relation to this paragraph should be addressed to Linda Roy, National Equality Office.
Mandatory Equality & Diversity Training
Branch secretaries are requested to ensure that any person in their branch who has CWU representative responsibilities and has not yet completed their mandatory equality & diversity training are enrolled in the courses that are planned throughout the regions in the forthcoming months.
All reps must do the training - this includes divisional reps, area reps, unit reps and branch officers. For clarification on dates please contact your regional secretary. The training has been running now for over three years and there are still a substantial number of reps who have not completed the training.
Your co-operation in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Equal Opportunities Department.
BT MSL: VNMC Resourcing
BT MSL management's Build a Better Business initiative assumptions of ongoing support from BT Operate was reduced to the point of operational and cost jeopardy. This had planned for reductions across the two NMC sites.
It has been decided to replace the signed off reductions that have taken place with the recruitment of four FTE.
The initial intention in resourcing these posts will be through the normal process; MSL first, CTC and then BT Job News.
However, with the recent announcements on Field Service losing resource into Openreach this process may be accelerated to capture those in Field Services with the appropriate skills who may be interested in undertaking such work.
The background explanation is in the attached internal BTMSL briefing.
BT Operate: Service Delivery - Our Past, Present and Future
Attached for the information of branches and to be associated with the various LTBs issued is a targeted internal communication to BT Operate Service Delivery employees.
It charts the relevant achievements as seen by the outgoing director for Service Delivery.
BT Technology, Services and Operations: Field Services
Some branches have raised questions on the attached internal communication in regards to the issue of call-outs and resourcing and speed of response.
The BT Operate national team has already raised this with operational management and has reported to the regional co-ordinators in that this is a subject matter being looked at by the general manager south.
The reality is that this is likely to produce proposals in the next financial year at the earliest and not during this current financial year.
Of course, there will be a new management structure in new operational units in place by then, so it remains to be seen what, if anything, and in what areas proposals will be produced.
